Saints sign a backup for Brees
Saints signed QB Mark Brunell, formerly of the Redskins.
The Packers are running out of options. Brunell, 38 this summer, didn't play a down as a third-stringer behind Jason Campbell and Todd Collins last year. He's lost a lot of arm strength and underwent surgery for a torn labrum last offseason. If Drew Brees goes down, he'll likely struggle to post good stats.

I guess he is a viable backup, but prolly wont see any playing time at all.
Re: Saints sign a backup for Brees
I agree that he is a decent backup for Brees, and will know what's going on if Brees goes down. But he's also 37. How many more years will Brunell even be in the league? I can't see him evolving from anything more than a backup or to lend his veteran experience to Brees, who has just about half of the years' experience that Brunell does. But if you could be a behind-the-scenes players to a Super Bowl team, I guess it wouldn't really matter.
Good luck to him.
Good luck to him.
